We’ve helped Ottawa families buy and sell homes for over 20 years. Now we’re helping dogs find homes too. With our partner rescues, eligible adopters can receive help with the standard adoption fee, so more good dogs meet their people.

Adoption fee help
For eligible Home Guyz buyer clients who adopt through a partner rescue, we contribute the rescue’s standard adoption fee, paid directly to the rescue after a finalized adoption.

Bullies in Need and Ottawa Dog Rescue are the heart of this program. Both are foster-based, volunteer-run organizations dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs in need, many of them coming from challenging starts or shelter environments.
What makes them special is their thoughtful, hands-on adoption process. Every dog is placed in a loving foster home where their personality, needs, and quirks can truly shine. This helps ensure each adoption is the right fit for both the dog and their future family... long before “gotcha day.”
Their commitment doesn’t stop once the adoption is complete. Both rescues provide ongoing guidance, training resources, and community support to help new adopters and their dogs thrive together.

How
🦴 How It Works - Concierge Connection
Our Adoption Liaison is your friendly guide throughout the process, think of them as your personal matchmaker between home and heart.
Once you’ve expressed interest in adopting, our Liaison will connect you directly with the most suitable Partner Rescue Contact at either Bullies in Need or Ottawa Dog Rescue. From there, the rescue team takes the lead with their own trusted screening process, including applications, interviews, reference checks, and home visits to ensure every match is a perfect fit.
Our role is simply to facilitate a smooth introduction and support you along the way. We’ll stay in touch to make sure communication flows easily between you and the rescue, but all decisions and approvals are handled entirely by the rescue’s experienced volunteers.
Once the adoption is approved, we’ll coordinate payment of the adoption fee directly to the rescue - making your “gotcha day” moment as effortless and joyful as possible.

Every time someone finds their new home, there’s a chance to help a dog find theirs too. By covering adoption fees, The Home Guyz Team helps remove a common barrier that can stand between a great family and a rescue dog who deserves a second chance.
Adoption fees directly support the rescues’ ongoing work — from veterinary care and food to behavioural support and transportation. Covering that cost not only helps complete more adoptions but also funds the care of the next dog waiting in line.
This program puts the dog’s best interests first. Each adoption is led entirely by the rescue’s experienced volunteers, ensuring every match is safe, responsible, and lasting.
All contributions are paid directly to our rescue partners — there’s no cash alternative, just meaningful support that goes straight to where it’s needed most.

- We make the introduction — our Adoption Liaison connects you with a Partner Rescue Contact.
- Rescue leads the process — screening, matching, and approvals are done by the rescue.
- Fee handled after adoption — after a finalized adoption, we coordinate the standard adoption fee contribution directly with the rescue.

A few common questions people will ask.
Who is eligible?
The program is available to anyone who buys a home with The Home Guyz Team or purchases a property listed by our team. If you’re working with another agent, program details will be provided through your agent or after your purchase has closed. At that time, we’ll share only information about the program, no real estate marketing or solicitation.
Do you influence rescue decisions?
No. All adoption decisions are made solely by the rescue organizations. Each rescue follows its own screening process - including applications, interviews, and home checks to ensure every dog is matched with the right family.
What costs are covered?
The Home Guyz Team covers the full adoption fee when you adopt through one of our partner rescues (Bullies in Need or Ottawa Dog Rescue). Any additional expenses, such as transportation, supplies, training, or veterinary care, are the adopter’s responsibility.
What if I decide not to adopt?
There’s absolutely no pressure to adopt. If you choose not to, The Home Guyz Team will make a donation of $150 to each partner rescue - Bullies in Need and Ottawa Dog Rescue - or a total of $300 in your name. If adopting isn’t the right fit, there are other ways to help, such as fostering, sponsoring, or donating directly, we’re happy to point you in the right direction.
How do I start the process?
If you’ve purchased a Home Guyz Team listed property, you’ll receive a welcome package after closing with all the program details and next steps. If you’re buying a home with one of our agents, your agent will go over the program with you once your purchase is firm. Before closing, our Adoption Program Liaison will also touch base to recap the steps and help you get started with the rescue of your choice.
What if I don’t like dogs?
That’s totally okay... not everyone’s a dog person! We can also get behind cats, reptiles, or other rescued pets if that’s more your style. Just ask and we’ll do our best to connect you with a local organization that fits you. And if you’d rather not adopt at all, we’ll still make a $300 donation ($150 to each of our partner rescues) in your name.
